Le Nouveau Dieu (The New God) 650 mm long/ 240 mm deep/310 mm wide)My first bone mask was inspired by some of the pre-contact masks ofHawaii (plus a bit of North African influence). It has a very thin base of paper and layers and layers of bones and skulls from assorted small terrestiral mammals plus a few fish bones. The eyes are made with paper and crushed bone and the teeth are from a cow. As is often the case with my work the photos don’t really do it justice. There is so much fine detail and texture in it that you would need a life-size photograph to capture it. For sale – NZ$2500.
